Poster - DramaFest 2010

This poster is quite old already. It's done by a group of people so I can't exactly claim it as my work but I am still documenting it because I like the design, for my personal reference too. lol.
This poster was made last year to publicise my class' drama item: Flying Solo, it is something like a musical surrounding the storyline of a girl who dreamt of becoming a dancer.

This gives reason to the swirly calligraphy font, I can't remember who came up with the idea haha. The part that makes this poster significant to me will be the background, the transient and subtle use of colour matched my impression of the play.

One defect will be the awkward font and spacing of the words below. It looks too crowded and squeezed in that corner of the whole poster. As black is a rather dominant and obvious colour, the viewer's attention tends to be drawn towards the cluster of words down there instead of individual keyword in the sentence. If they were spaced out and aligned, the viewer would have a better impression of the details when they are trying to recall and not just recalling a lump of words. A synopsis could also be included to arouse their curiosity for the play.

As I rarely attempted a style like this, I think it would be good to just keep a copy of it for my future reference :)
